Individual Courses
CALCampus offers individual courses. The ability to take individual
courses without being in a diploma program appeals to four major types of
people:
- High school students who would like to take additional courses for credit
- High school graduates who need to take a course as an admission requirement for college
- People who need to take a course to advance in their career
- People who simply want to learn about a subject
The program of study at CALCampus offers many benefits to students:
- Our rolling admission allows students to start their course at any
time during the year
- The courses take ten weeks on average; however, on an individual
basis, the pace of the course can be sped up or slowed down to allow the
student to meet possible deadlines
- The program is nationally recognized
- Students only have to take the courses that they need
We accept students from other high schools or home schools who want to
take just one or two individual courses for transfer into their local
school program. Even if you are not currently attending a school, you
may sign up for individual courses with us.
Our individual courses are nationally recognized and taught by
certified teachers who have experience in teaching at conventional schools.
High schools and colleges from all over the country have accepted
CALCampus credits. Please check the menu section on Recognition (in About Us)
to see the variety of schools that have accepted CALCampus courses for credit in the past.
Check the individual course descriptions (see Course List) for prerequisites. If no
prerequisites are posted in the description, the course is open to anyone
who has the general academic background for this level of study or who
has been recommended by a school advisor.
Course Numbering and Credit Amount
CALCampus high school courses are numbered in the 200s on our Course List. Our high school courses are designed to cover the content of a full year, unless otherwise stated in the course description. There is no uniform credit system among high schools, so we do not specify credit amounts on our transcripts. The transcript states the course in terms of length: ex. 'full year content' or 'half year content'. It is then up to the particular high school to award their credit amount. In our High School Diploma program, we award 1 credit for a full year content course.
Course Transfer
The decision to accept a course from any school is always made by the receiving institution.
If you choose to seek transfer credit for one of our high school courses, you need to arrange with your own high school counselor to accept a particular CALCampus course for credit in your high school program.
Print the course description to show your counselor. We can also provide you with a syllabus to show your counselor, if needed. Ask the Director if you have questions about this.
Once you have selected an individual course, go to our Admissions page
for further instructions.
