The Postsecondary General Education Diploma (PGED) is a general curriculum program for adult students who wish to pursue individual study beyond high school. The program allows students to achieve their own educational objectives through fundamental postsecondary level studies.
The objective of this program is to provide the student with a broad academic background by completing a selection of postsecondary level courses from the arts and humanities; science; computer science; mathematics; business; and the social sciences. Graduates of this program can use this as an avenue for admission into Bachelor degree studies in the future. The PGED program allows for concentration in either the Arts and Humanitiess or in Math and Sciences. Requires a minimum of 60 credits for completion. Credits are accepted from prior learning assessment and transfer credit from postsecondary studies, including CALCampus courses. Credits for new learning are earned by taking CALCampus courses; or by standardized testing, such as CLEP, DANTES, Regents. Incoming students are provided with a course plan which lists courses that are needed to complete their program. Evidence of learning equivalent to that of a high school diploma is requested of incoming students. Note that students just out of high school are encouraged to pursue traditional university studies at local institutions. The typical age of students is over 27. The PGED program may be completed within months to years, depending upon the amount of prior learning transferred into the program and the number of courses you take simultaneously. CALCampus courses are designed to be completed within 10-12 weeks, on average. Students may start their courses as soon as they are admitted. CALCampus is an international distance learning school, licensed by the State of New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission. CALCampus Postsecondary is non-degree granting and is accredited by NCA CASI and CITA. See accreditation information.
